PATIENT NAVIGATION
If you or a loved one has cancer, please know you do not need to voyage on your cancer journey alone. Our PCF Patient Navigator, Andrea Bacos, would be honored to accompany and guide you. As a highly trained and experienced health care professional, our patient navigator can provide individualized support and guidance to patients and families like yours. Regardless of whether or not you have insurance or what type of coverage you have, where you are receiving or have received treatment, our navigator is available to work with you.
Research studies show that “patients who had navigators felt more involved in their care, more informed as to how cancer affects their life, and better prepared for the future.”
Patient Navigators are trained and certified to help find resources and services for oncology patients and their loved ones. The navigator plays a pivotal role in facilitating communication between healthcare providers and the patient, even going to scheduled appointments with the patient if needed. The healthcare provider often does not have the opportunity to discuss additional support and thus, the navigator is available to help with medications, co-pays, transportation, wellness activities, nutritional support, insurance barriers, and other aspects, to coordinate services for patients.
The Healthcare team is made up of a variety of physicians, nurses, and support workers who provide care and information to patients and families. The navigator, as part of the healthcare team, can utilize resources and contacts to make the cancer journey less stressful and confusing. Pacific Cancer Foundation provides all navigation services free of charge.
Contact us at 808-249-1623 or email navigator@pacificcancerfoundation.org to schedule an appointment.
