MEDITATION

Our intention is to support each cancer patient and their caregivers through their individual journeys lifting body awareness, confidence, and connection to self in the natural and social world around us. Techniques include mindfulness, grounding, movement, anchoring with breath, and creating an in-tune felt sense experiences; all while cultivating kind awareness in the present moment.

Every Thursday from 5:00-6:00pm

Where

Meetings are held at the J. Walter Cameron Center (95 Mahalani St, Wailuku) in our comfortable room at the Hui O Anuenue Office downstairs in Building 5. Turn right immediately after entering the Cameron Center. Office is towards the end of the long stretch of offices below. When you reach Building 5, enter door that is last room on left side.

How to Join

Weekly Meditation Sessions are open attendance and free to Maui's cancer community cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers. First-time participants are welcome.

Meditation intructor, Joan Selix Berman

Joan Selix Berman is passionate about sharing mindfulness meditation to enhance a kind and embodied presence. She has a BA in Counseling Psychology and Body-Based Therapy from Antioch University, is certified as a Body-based Therapist from Lomi School in California, and as a Mindfulness Meditation Teacher with Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield’s Teacher Training Program.

Tamara Catz’s journey with healing arts started in early childhood where she grew up playing music, free dancing, drawing, singing, and performing in theater. Her passion for health and connection with her own healing prompted her to study and train for the past 20 years with teachers of Meditation, eventually leading her to complete a master’s program in Expressive Arts Therapy and Human Development from Iatba, Barcelona Spain. Her approach is to encourage and support individuals in taking a path to self-knowledge with compassion and determination to live their callings.
